Friday’s Rescue Foundation!

Why Volunteer

Are you interested in volunteering at our Groton animal shelter, but aren’t sure if you should? Here are the top reasons to fill out a volunteer application for Friday’s Rescue Foundation today!

Do Good, Feel Good

Simply put, volunteering makes you feel good. Volunteering with us means you’re helping the animals at our shelter become adoptable. You’re helping them build trust in humans so that they can successfully find a forever home. The work you do at our animal shelter in Groton is good for the animals, and is therefore, good for your soul.

See How You Make a Difference

You can see immediate results when you work with animals. Many of the creatures you come our way have had a hard life or are struggling with a debilitating illness. They need care and attention. Something as simple as giving a senior dog a few pets on the head is enough to help their personality come out and shine. Our volunteers instantly bring more light and love into these animals’ lives, and it is immediately apparent.

Fill a Need

When you volunteer with Friday’s Rescue Foundation, you’re helping fill a need, and we are so grateful for it. We are fortunate to have many passionate and dedicated members of our team, but we can’t do it all. Our volunteers play an enormous role in rehabilitating the dogs and cats who come to our shelter, and we are very thankful for them.

Improve Your Health

Spending time with animals is good for your mental, physical, and emotional health. Quality time with our furry friends has proven to lower blood pressure and cortisol levels, the stress hormone. In addition, if you walk our dogs for us, you are able to be active and get outside, both of which are beneficial to help. Making a connection with an animal is also an incredible mood booster, as playing with pets has shown to elevate serotonin and dopamine levels, the “feel-good” chemicals.

Meet Like-Minded People

It’s not always easy to make meaningful connections with others, particularly as an adult. The bar scene doesn’t lend itself to real conversation, and meeting people online can be shallow at times. Volunteering with us means that you will meet many like-minded individuals who have the same values as you. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and establish a quick connection.

Learn New Skills

There’s much to learn here at Friday’s Rescue! From office and computer skills to training, feeding, grooming, and rehabilitating animals, you’ll be hard pressed not to pick up a new skill through your volunteer experience with us. These skills could help you at home with your own furry family members, or even translate into a career someday!

Find Your Next Pet

Speaking of furry family members, if you are contemplating adopting a pup or kitty, volunteering may be your perfect gateway into finding the right pet for you. If you make a connection with an animal while volunteering, you can fill out an application for this dog or cat and potentially bring them home to expand your family!
